1. Request for certified copy of Birth Certificate

   Requirements:

   • A letter requesting for a birth certificate containing:
     • Full name (correct spelling)
     • Date of birth
     • Names of parents
     • Last address in Suriname

   Processing fee: $ 30.00
   Processing time: Allow approximately 90 days for processing.

2. Request for Police Clearance/Certificate of Good Conduct

   Requirements:

   • A letter requesting for a Certificate of Good Conduct/Police Clearance containing:
     • Full name (correct spelling)
     • Date of birth
     • Last address in Suriname
     • Copy of the passport
     • Two passport photographs

   Note: Applicant must be registered in the Public Registry of the Bureau for Civil Affairs in Suriname (CBB=Centraal Bureau voor Burgerzaken)

   Processing fee: $ 45.00
   Processing time: Allow approximately 90 days for processing.

3. Request for Apostille

   Requirements:

   1. Notarization of document(s)
   2. Authentication of notary signature (in most states this may be done directly by the State Secretary of State; if not, by the County Clerk)
   3. State Secretary of State Certification (in states where the notary signature may be authenticated directly by the State Secretary of State, steps 2 and 3 are combined)
   4. U.S. Secretary of State Certification

      Note: All documents must be original.

   Processing fee: $ 20.00
   Processing time: Allow 3-5 business days for processing.

4. Legalization/Certification

   Requirements:

   • A letter requesting the legalization/certification
   • The document to be legalized/certified

   Processing fee: $ 20.00
   Processing time: Allow 3-5 business days for processing.

5. Request for Authentication of Surinamese Driver's License

   Requirements:

   • A letter requesting the authentication
   • The original Surinamese driver’s license to be authenticated

   Processing fee: $ 20.00
   Processing time: Allow 3-5 business days for processing.

   Announcement:

   "Draft State Decree regarding amendment of the Driver's License Law 1957, G.B. 1957 no. 103 as recently amended by S.B. 2005 no 17, with required Explanatory Note"

   1. persons with a valid foreign driver's license may visit the Driver's License Department, "Bureau Nieuwe Haven" to obtain a driver's permit in case they intend to drive in Suriname
   2. The following should be submitted:
      • A passport, which indicates that the person in question resides legally in the country
      • A receipt for the amount of 150.00 Surinamese Dollars (SRD)
      • The deposit can be made at the Central Payment Office or any of its branches

6. Request for Life Certificate

   Requirements:

   • A letter requesting the life certificate
   • Applicant has to appear in person
   • If applicant is not able to appear in person (due to health conditions, distance, etc.), the applicant may call the Embassy and send a copy of 2 forms of valid identification

   Processing fee: $ 30.00
   Processing time: Allow 3-5 business days for processing.
